- Interview with Jimmy Page
Was formed in 1968 by Jimmy Page and Peter Grant from the remnants of the Yardbirds. performed first as the New Yardbirds to fullfill a former contract they chose the name Led Zeppelin for its irony and as a joke since a lead zeppelin certainly can't float. It was a term coined by Keith Moon of The Who, but Page changed the spelling from "Lead Zeppelin" to "Led Zeppelin" so that people would not mispronounce it. one possible name the band had thought of before settling on Led Zeppelin was "Mad Dogs" in the early days, the band opened for shows like Iron Butterfly and Jethro Tull was forced to perform under a name other than Led Zeppelin once in the Netherlands because a woman named Eva von Zeppelin claimed they disgraced her name and threatened to sue them. So they played their show under the alias, The Nobs so they wouldn't offend her any further. Led Zeppelin I was recorded in less than 30 hours, and though credit was given to Jimmy Page for writing all the songs, Robert Plant did have a hand in writing the lyrics. He was still tied to a former contract and was unable to put his name on them. Led Zeppelin II was recorded in many different studios and was put together while the band was touring America. it also went gold the day it was released. Led Zeppelin III was recorded at Headly Grange, the Rolling Stones mobile recording truck, but all of the songs were written at a Welsh retreat where the band stayed after a long tour. The inside cover of Led Zeppelin IV was painted by a friend of Jimmy Page, but was taken from a tarot card generally meaning that one must not proceed into the future without contemplation and reflection. On the back cover of the untitled album, the poster on the wall is a picture of a dying man on a stretcher that ironically reads "Every day someone receives relief from hunger." "Stairway to Heaven" is officially the greatest song never released. Officially, the greatest song that was released, to date, is Whitney Houston's version of "I will Always Love You." The children on the cover of Houses of the Holy aren't actually naked. They are wearing flesh colored bodysuits. Though the album, Houses of the Holy, was released in 1973, the song "Houses of the Holy" was released in 1975 on Physical Graffiti. The Song Remains the Same was filmed in 1973 and released in 1976 because of personal problems within the band, but mostly because they couldn't find visual footage to match up with the audio samples. Each band member then created his own fantasy sequence in order to fill in the gaps. The soundtrack to TSRS is not identical to the movie. (that wasn't too hard to notice -) Presence was recorded with Plant in a wheelchair in a very short period of time under very high pressure, yet they still managed to pull off an excellent album. The cover of Presence was a joke on 2001: Space Odyssey. In Through the Out Door was the last studio album recorded by Led Zeppelin in 1979. The whole thing was carried along by John Paul Jones. Coda was a posthumous release of studio and live recordings compiled by Jimmy Page in 1982. the word "coda" in music means the end. The closest things to a Zeppelin reunion have been the Live Aid concert in 1985, Atlantic's 40th Anniversary Party in 1988, and the Page/Plant Reunion. Led Zeppelin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. They received the Lifetime Achievement Honors at the Indian Music Awards in 1995. In 1998, Jimmy Page teamed up with hip hop producer Puff Daddy to record "Come with Me" a bastardized version of Kashmir
